Frolek Ranch, Thompson-Nicola Valley
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has recently purchased or placed convenants on 8,000 acres (3200 hectares) of the Frolek Cattle Company’s private lands in the Lac du Bois area, northwest of Kamloops. These properties are located within the existing Lac du Bois Grassland Protected Area and are critical to the ecological health of the region. NCC will lease the land back to the Ranch to ensure that grazing will co-exist with the conservation of the land’s natural features.
The Tula Foundation donated over $1.5 million towards the stewardship endowment, which will ensure that NCC can monitor and care for the land in partnership with the Frolek family over the long-term.
